The short version is genuinely short
Mostly Nothing is an investing publication. I have zero interest in turning it into a data-harvesting operation.
The site currently uses Vercel Web Analytics for the boring useful stuff: which pages get read, where traffic came from, and what kind of device/browser is being used. Vercel’s Web Analytics is designed around aggregated analytics rather than identifying individual readers, and it does not use third-party cookies for this tracking.
Normal page-view analytics do not hand me your name, email, account information, or anything remotely useful for figuring out who you are.
What the site analytics can include
The analytics platform may process things such as:
- page or URL viewed
- timestamp
- referring site
- country / approximate region
- browser
- operating system
- device type
The goal is pretty boring: learn what people actually read and whether the site works. That is enough.
Email subscriptions are handled through beehiiv.
If you choose to subscribe, beehiiv processes the email address you submit and the subscription/engagement data needed to deliver and operate the newsletter. The signup form also asks you to consent to receiving Mostly Nothing by email, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
I use that information to send the newsletter and see whether people actually read it. Selling an email list is not some hidden future business model.
beehiiv operates under its own privacy terms as the newsletter service provider.
External links
Articles link to company filings, investor-relations pages, financial sources, and other third-party websites. Once you leave Mostly Nothing, those sites operate under their own privacy policies.
Questions or changes
If the tools materially change, this page will change with them. The whole point is that somebody who bothers to read Privacy should be able to tell what the site is actually doing.
